storing begonia tubers

How do you store begonia tubers? I have tried a few ways without success. I tried burying them in peat moss and wrapped in newspaper but neither worked to keep them alive.

I don't really have a really cold place that is just above freezing and just put them in the basement which is cool but not cold. Could that be my problem?

You can try the refrigrator if you have room.
