Up here they would be, I think it needs a light freeze to start the dormancy process? We do celcius here, and one night was -1*C, and several others were +1 or +2*C, mighty brisk out when I went out to check on my plants, and my begonia (in semi sheltered spot beneath a large cedar) is doing fine. I think it is happier with these cooler temps compared to our hot July. Way more blooms.

They will be fine at 44. Even at 32, they may be okay but I would throw something over them or bring them indoors. A hard frost will kill all the leaves and may even damage rhizomes if they are in the open. Under a roof or trees, they can weather a hard frost okay but it's best to bring them in before that occurs.

I did leave them out last night and haven't been out to see what they look like this morning yet. They are under a tree. It is supposed to be in the mid to high 50s the rest of the week, so I am sure I will get them in the house before it gets cold again.
