Hello. I have a begonia called "airy fairy" that I could really use some help with. I've had it for several months and it's been on a gradual decline for most of that time. It looks limp is the best way to describe it. I've tried watering more, letting it dry out, under lights, bright window....I wonder if I have it in too big of a pot, but I'm afraid that re-potting it will push it over the edge. The other thing is I wonder if I should of had it outside over the summer. Can anyone tell me the basic care for this begonia? I've seen a picture of it online (healthy version) and it's such a cute plant I really hope to keep mine alive. Also, my leaves are dark green, doesn't that mean too much light? I'd appreciate any tips. Thanks much.

I am no specialist but the "limbness" as you describe it... well it would seem to me as TOO MUCH water actually...

Maybe the compost isnt that great either, or too nutrient. If oyu say you had it inside and moved it outside during the summer, isnt it possible that it got "cold" before you moved it back in? That would screw it right there I'd think...

Thank you so much for responding! I agree that I probably over-watered. And I never did have it outside and wonder now if that would of helped. Anyway, I really appreciate your response.

I would take it out of the pot and examine the root system. If it's rootbount, chances are the water is running through the pot and not soaking the rootball. If it's too root bound, repot it. Mush the rootball first to loosen it, then pot one size up in a loose mix. Take some cuttings for insurance, in case you lose the plant. Put them in water first, to firm them up if they're limp. Then root in perlite or a ZipLock. A picture would help us see the problem better.
