Well this past June I picked up a bag of tuberous begonia at a BBS. They were to have yellow flowers with red/orange picotee (edges). Planted them in a pot out on my balcony and they sprouted/broke ground after a week or two. After getting a few inches tall they proceeded to just sit there. NOW with temps falling into the 40s at night (won't be long before frosts kill off all the above ground growth), one of the ornery things finally decides to put up a couple buds! .
