Is this a begonia?

These plants were all over the place in the Dordogne region of France when I was there in the summer. Would love to identify them and I am hoping maybe they are some sort of begonia.????

Nevermind! It is an Impatiens balfourii. Thanks all.

What a lovely plant! Do you have a way for people to see the other flowers you saw in France?

RE: Is this a begonia?

The magic in France seems to me to be not so much in the types of flowers, but in the ways they use them. They have lots of roses and other flowers we have, but the way they grow by a wall or are simply placed in a plain glass container on an exterior window sill is just enchanting. I think I can only post one at a time, but I will give you just a few exampes. Glad you enjoyed the first one. Apparently the impatiens is considered invasive, but they didn't appear to be taking over-just made nice little 3-4 foot shrubs.

And a perfect rose in the Rodin Museum gardens in Paris.

If you want to see wild begonias I'm afraid you will have to come to Brazil!
