Need help with how to transplant seedlings

About 3 months ago I brought in a pot of Red Bayou Begonias that I started from seed last year. They had "died" back in October and then I put them under flourascent lights until they came back. They look great. Now I have found that the plants have reseeded themselves and there are hundreds of seedlings in the pot. The seedlings are very tiny and VERY close together. How should I transplant them? I was thinking I should take hunks of seedlings and transplant those and then let those grow and then transplant again as they get bigger? Any better ideas?

It's amazing how many seedlings there are. I sowed 50 seeds last winter and only got 3 plants. To think I now have hundreds! :) How Wonderful!

You may want to thin first, then transplant when they get bigger. If you have patience you might try tweezers, toothpicks, or any small tool you can think of. I did this many years ago with gloxinias by sowing the seed from a fresh seed pod (forget about using old seed from a lot of the seed houses - most are not viable). Literally hundreds of seedlings came up, but I ended up knocking the pot over before I could really get around to transplanting.

Have fun transplanting.
