A Bit of Everything

This year I would like to pour a concrete pad to catch the thistle seed droppings created by the Mrs. feeding her wild finches. I would like to be able to hose off the slab into a "Moat". My question is this an enviorment that would lend itself to Bog Plants. Water circulation and drainage could be provided. My worry is the decomposing seed hulls and bird droppings. Any ideas? TIA

RE: A Bit of Everything

When I had debris from thistle seed holders it developed a lot of mold. I understand lots of seed is treated so it won't germinate but I always have volunteers but if it does have those inhibitors it would leach into the bog. I would look for another way. Maybe a catch screen under the feeders would work for you. Sandy
