Trees for Zone 9

Hi All,

I too have tree question for an area of my yard that stays wet for a few month of the year. The soil is a horrible clay and is in full sun. Once the Sacramento hot weather kicks in, the area is hard as cement. Any suggestions? Here are a couple of other obstacles, the tree cannot reach more that about 15 ft (its near the property line) and it cannot be toxic because I have two dogs that will eat anything (like the black loquats from the tree that was once there). Thank you for your help.

Sounds like your conditions are quite like parts of Australia, wet then extreme drought with heat, and so on. Perhaps you should post a message over on that forum? PF
