My 2 bog gardens are attached to my pond & get occasionally fully flooded when it rains hard. I can't imagine that a pond will hurt. The water level below the soil should be roughly the same as the water in your pondlet (sounds like you live in an area with a high water table).

You might want to add some mosquito fish to keep down the bombardment but otherwise it sounds lovely.

We have a bog next to our small pond, with water level about 4 inches below the bog in 1 area, and at surface level in the other area. Both work fine! So well, in fact, that I put 2 bogs in other areas of my drought-friendly garden (California water shortage) to liven things up. all are thriving. go for it.

PS in winter torrential rain here, the bog absorbs overflow from the pond to a certain extent, and if heavy downpour we check it and take excess pond water out of the pond - bog has been great.
