Plant Suggestions for 2 Very Wet Areas

I have two very wet areas I am looking to plant some plants and I would appreciate some suggestions of plants to look at before deciding.

Area 1 is a very shady area with two areas of drainage/runoff from a neighbor. Soil is very heavy duty clay. If there is a climbing flowering plant similar to a clematis, too, that would be awesome as I could plant it to grow all over the chain link fence back there. The area is very shady due to closely planted wite oaks and sweet gum trees. I am mainly looking for bushes, ground covers, climbing flowering plants and perennials for this space.

The 2nd area gets a good amount of sun, particularly from around noon on. But it is also very clay laden soil and is a 12 foot wide strip where there is a lot of water run off between my property and my neighor's property. I'd love to experiment with grasses here, possibly some perennials, and even small to mid size trees or other ornamental trees/shrubs.

Thanks for any help!

I have a sunny area in front of my house that collects runoff and is heavy soil (but not clay). I struggled for years finding things that would grow there. Here's what I've found that does well. Brugmansia (angel trumpet), Hibiscus (Texas Star and tropicals), some cannas (President and Endeavor have particularly done well--some others didn't like Stuttgart, Bengal Tiger, Futurity series), Chinese Windmill Palm, Louisiana Iris, Japanese Iris, Siberian Iris, Crocosmia, Ginger, Elephant Ears, Umbrella Palm. The only thing I can think of that might work for a shady area would be hydrangea and ferns, maybe hardy begonia?

Hydrangea is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!
