What would be a nice flower to plant in a wet spot?

I'm looking for anything that doesn't have invasive roots, likes partial sun to full sun and is pretty and or fragrant and can survive in zone 6a. Thanks in advance! :)

For a taller, red flower I like the cardinal flower.

Japanese iris and Louisiana iris are pretty spiky foliage plants, green all year, with beautiful spring flowers Texas Star Hibiscus blooms all summer long, gets about 7' tall and is a nice see through plant.
