New bog garden/small shallow pond

I have recently dug a new bog garden and small shallow pond. They are seperated by some large flat rocks. Each garden is about 15 ft. long by 12 ft. wide. I plan to put lotus in the small pond. Both gardens have water because of groundwater feed, so no liners. I filled the bog with a mixture of sandy loam and rotted compost. NOW... I would really like ideas on how to proceed with the bog. Pictures of your bogs, plants that might work. Edging...? I will shortly post pictures of the area and keep you posted (including pictures) of my progress. Hopefully, other "new boggers" will benefit from this. Thanks!

I have included a picture below of the small pond with bog attached. Need suggestions. Thanks!

Nice... I like what you did w/ the rocks. I have a similar situation in my front yard because of poor grading. Water collects so I decided to make it a bog. I was digging and hit a table of water but decided not to go for a pond... I was already overwhelmed with the bog. Yours looks like. You in NC? Me too.

My pond is less than 1000 gallons. How large should a bog gravel filter be for this size pond? What size pump would I need to move water to my waterfall weir and the bog?
