I am starting a water garden with a bog area but I do not know what plants are hardy in my area. they will be outside year around. My pond is 18 foot round by 3.5 feet deep and the bog areas are 2 feet out around 2 sides of the pond. I am making my own filter. I need to find out plants can work and where I can find them cheap, I am not a rocafeller and I can not afford much, So I need Help.

Grasses and sedges are relatively cheap and/or can easily be grown from seed. In the fall we make the rounds of some of the local native wetlands and collect seeds. Also check nursery year-end sales. Check with some of your local native plant experts and they may be able to put you on to sources. In the US, many county cooperative extension service offices have master gardeners that can also give you ideas.
