recommendations: moisture-loving ground covers for pond edge

Completely surrounding my pond are fieldstones, 10". The edging goes directly BETWEEN the pond and a 2-foot wide strip of soilfilled escavation that i will use to plant moisture loving plants.

I need to find plants [whether vines like sweet-potatoe?, or other] that will grow out of the moist to soggy soil and crawl over the surface of the flat stones, to cover them. Any good suggestions?

[There are all sorts of ground covers that i know about, but i dont think that those will thrive in not-well drained soil that is consistently moist or wet].

The best would be a ground cover which would not disintegrate in winter, but would put on new folliage in spring/summer and pick up [length-wise] growing and extending from where it left off the previous growing season so that i can ultimately completely cover the stones.

How does creeping jenny (lysimachia nummalaria)do in your climate? I really like the golden form of it and it loves a boggy situation.

i have violets planted around mine white and purple..mine are in light shade to full shade and they don't die back with the constant water source. some are running violets and they have spread to make a carpet like area of violets. i also have some planted in the bog. they have done well also.
