Can I grow wetland SHRUBS in a bog garden?

I am reluctant to plant wetland shrubs in my bog garden (Elderberry, Buttonbush, and High Bush Blue Berry) because I'm thinking that must use up a lot of water on account of their size. I guess I can keep a few of these in the bog garden (which is large)is I keep them pruned small?

Elderberry could be a problem. It will happily grow everywhere and become as big as you allow it to be - and it will grow fast! I recommend against it.

Don't see that blue berries should be a problem - at least not if you keep them pruned.
