Hopeless area?

Posted by tropical_philippines (My Page) on

Hi,

I have a small area which is a collecting area for domestic sewage (mostly kitchen sewage). The area is waterlogged and the topsoil has become anaerobic with all the high B.O.D. kitchen waste. (The bottom soil seems ok, so deep rooted plants might survive.)

Is it possible to plant something 'ornamental' there that will survive those conditions or is it a hopeless area? Can bamboos survive there? How about some shrubs or other foilage or flowering plants?

Any plant suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Hopeless area?

You might try something like Phragmites - it might be growing to fast though or spread too agressively.
