Sweet grass question - Hierochloe odorata

Does Sweet Grass have a scent when growing? Is it a strong scent? Or, does it only smell strong when dried?
I think I planted it in my very small bog garden where a 'grass' has taken over. I'm trying to determine if it's sweet grass. It has a light scent but not like what I remember and certainly not like the dried braids.

| I have varigated sweet grass and never knew that it had a sweet scent, until I cut off a clump of it to give a friend and noticed it. I've never just smelled it in the air. I've never smelled it dried. Maybe I'll try drying some since I have a bushel basket size clump in my bog filter. Glenda |
