I think I need a bog - but not sure

| I have a pond with iris and other plants. What I would like to do is to plant some of the pond iris at one of the water's edges to make the pond look realistic. It needs to look as though the pond flows and ends. The problem is I planted an iris at the waters edge but it died. The pond is a liner pond so the banks are not soggy or boggy. I live in Southern California and it is 100 degrees this week.
Do I need to build a small bog to support about 10 iris plants? Is there a way to plant the water iris in large pots which dont have holes so they stay moist enough between watering?
I really appreciate any help you can give me. I'm a pond person and dont know anything about bogs. |

| You can plant them in containers with no holes. Or, if you have enough liner left over, you could dig a trench, line it, then backfill with soil and fill with water. |
