Rooting rush cutting

I recieved a rush cutting. I've kept it in water with hope of it rooting. I've read that they can be propagated through seeds or division. Am I wasting time with this?

RE: Rooting rush cutting

I would just shove it in some soil in a wet pot, unless the wild ones here are totally dried out they are blooming hard to kill. Recently I planted 9 flowering rushes that had been dry packed for several months, I think all but one is doing well, I have 2 or 9 dry pack reeds growing abd they have had the same treatment.
