some1 please tell me a substitute for white pine needles

I want to grow a pine tree or some sort of ever green in my yard that will provide me with needles that i can work into the soil so that i can grow blueberries and cover my bog garden with in winter.

1. It has to be one of those trees that will not get too wide, at least not in under 25 years.

2. It has to be as fast growing as possible because, please CORRECT ME if im wrong, unless its somewhat big it wont provide much needles.

3. The reason I want to say a substitute for white pine is because just in case i dont find a white pine or if they are, as i heard, too slow growing; what are comparable choices, among the pines, ceders, shrubs, firs, or anything that will (1) not get too wide so that the drip line doesnt get too close to the pond and cause roots to break through the 45 mil liner and (2) will grow somewhat fast even if i have to constantly fertilize and water all the time to get it to grow.

Thank you.
steve

White pine is pretty fast growing, all right. don't know about its roots and liners. You can also offer to rake for someone who has them, or cruise curbs.

My question is can I substitute another mulch for pine needles? I have access to salt marsh hay since I live near the coast. What about that?
