filtrific skimmers

Does anyone have a Filtrific skimmer installed in an established pond say 3-6 years old.
I have an old Pondsweep Skimmer with a verticle skimmer mat in front of the submersed pump.When the skimmer mat gets clogged the water level at the pump drops and if I don't clean it every day or two I take a chance of starving or cavitating the pump of water.
I have heard good things about Filtrific except their price.My question is how often do you have to clean the filter baskets.
My water is clear,I don't feed my fish and I use Microbelife PL, Healthy Ponds , and have 30 marginal plants.

| I have a pondsweep skimmer and added a low water cut off switch to my pump. If I forget to clean the filters, my pump will shut off when the water is low from a dirty filter. |
