bog helps create healthy ecosystem

I am thrilled with my new bog garden. I planted one for the first time this spring. Lots of cardinal flower, beebalm, milkweeds, Joe Pye weed, etc. I wanted to attract hummers and butterflies.

I got so much more! Dragonflies have helped tremendously by eating moisquitoes (which were getting to be a problem / now they aren't a problem). I've got female hummers eating at cardinal flowers and beebalm all day, lots of butterflies all over the garden, frogs (I have seen precious few frogs in recent years!), box turtles, and a nice big rat snake, which made short work of a vole problem!

I get it! I really do. I don't just think about planting certain plants for beauty or bounty, or even plants to attract birds and butterflies. I think in terms of creating a healthy ecosystem!

thrilled with the bog garden!

What the heck does "bump" mean.

"bumping" pushes a thread back to the top of a page.
