Sarracenia : Wintering in a pot?

Someone gave me some Sarracenia x catesbaei and Sarracenia 'Daina's Delight' this spring in a abt a 2 gallon pot. It has done beautifully this summer. Last winter she left pot and all outside and 2 of the original 3 came back, but I'm concerned abt leaving it out. I keep the pot sitting in a shallow pan and keep it filled with rain water. I would really hate to lose these. Aside from taking them out of their rain water pan so they can dry out some, is there anything else I should do to help them make it thru winter? Right now they are on an open deck on the south side. I'm wondering if they'd fair better on my front (covered) porch. It's not enclosed and faces north. Thanks!!

| In Zone 7 you should be fine outside. I would suggest sinking the pot in the ground to protect the roots and rhizomes. I have 2 or 3 hybrids and half a dozen Sarracenia species that survive Cleveland OH winters outside. If they can make it through our winters it should be a snap for them down your way. |

| Thanks Fred! I'll try burying it when the nights start getting colder. |
