Need experienced cranberry growers....have a few questions

I am going to try to grow cranberries in one of those plastic kiddie pools. I plan to use a separate pool for each variety I get. I'll drill holes in the side & plan to use corks to plug the holes when needed. I'm going to throw some rocks, etc. in the bottom for added drainage. Then add peat, potting soil, etc. How many plants should I get so as not to crowd them? I found a place online that sells cranberry vines (10 or 25 are the smallest amounts). If I got the 25 would that be overcrowding? How long can I expect to get fruit with vines? Would it be better to get plants instead of vines?

Cranberries are vines, they creep all over the place!
The closer you plant the quicker you'll get a carpet of cranberry plants that bear, don't worry about crowding! They crowded most of my other bog plants out, and took over.

If you plant different varieties in different pools, put the pools close together because each variety is NOT self fertile and needs pollen from other clones to produce fruit. You'd be better off planting 2 varieties in each pool for best pollination.

Good luck in your endeavor!

Okay, so this may be off the subject, but I have a cranberry question. Do all cranberries need to be bog grown?? About 1 or 2 years ago I bought a rooted plant off a shopping channel that advertised "no bog needed". It's presently in a pot and has grown about 2-3 inches, but I don't know where to plant it. Living in Michigan, just don't know follow-up. Yes, I've lost the instructions, don't have the exact name of it, and do not presently have a picture to show. It does have long spines (vine-like), had a few small berries last year, and leaves are needle-like and tiny. Any guess so far???
