| So my friend just got back from a business trip to China... I asked her to pick up a bunch of "strange fruit seeds" for me if she could... Gotta sneak 'em through customs & all that and we both expected them to be confiscated, but she had no problems at all.
Anyway, when she got home she boxed everything up & sent it up to me.. Longans, sweetsops, dragon fruit, rambutans, some "peach" thingy, bitter melon, and a whole bag of lotus seeds. Now I know what everything else is & how to plant them, and I've heard of a lotus.. But I hadn't a clue what to do with these:
So I came over here (Gardenweb) did a search & shortly found Margaret's post about how she sprouted hers.
One question tho- Mine are green & soft. Should I dry them first then try the "sunken germination" method, or just toss 'em in some water right now?
I'd imagine in the natural enviornment they have to dry to fall out of the pod.. But.. I've never even seen these before. Kinda clueless as "what to do" with them right now.
Thanks Much for any advice- |
