No, I'm not trading my treasured old edition of this but wanted to recommend it as a marvelous "curl up with a good book" read. I've several of Wright's books and love his writing...he was editor of House & Garden Magazine back in the 1930's when life was much simpler and slower...and his essays are lovely meditations on his garden, travels, a little on his house and love for antiques.

Paperback reprint is only $13.95 for 329 pages...a steal nowadays. I noticed it in my Common Reader catalog and just wanted to share...josh

Josh- thanks for posting and the recommendation. I just ordered two copies, I love to read about gardening when I can't get out there and do it. And my good friend Janet will get a nice little gift. When the book arrives, I will read and re-post with my opinion of it.

I hope you like it. When I first started gardening in the 1960's, most books seemed to be by and about English gardeners, which I enjoyed but I was glad to find American authors. Unfortunately they had to be ordered from specialist book dealers and were expensive, thus I was pleased to see a reissue at a reasonable cost.

I've noticed that the English writers Beverly Nichols and Marjorie Fish's books have also been reissued...also good reads. Although my style of garden is totally different, I love reading about others' efforts with sweetpeas and roses. josh
