Hi country in the city,
I live in the city also. Right outside of New Olreans.
I have a small garden but very rewarding. I don't know
of any books off hand but would suggest going to your
local Barns N Nobles or other such book store and take
a peek at what they have. I'm sure prepareing the soil
is going to be tops on the list of things to do. Good
luck.

I want to get my in-laws a gardening book as a housewarming gift, so maybe I will just check out the book stores.

Hi! Country in the city,
The book you are looking for exists!!!! It is called Lasagna Gardening by Patricia Lanza. Talks about just that, how to convert an empty lot into a garden. No Digging, no tilling, no weeding, no kidding!!! Thought it was too good to be true, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I tell you, I will never go back to anything else again. It saved me money and backbreaking labor. Where I live is just caliche instead of soil and you can't dig 1 inch without running into boulders. I bought the book early this year and gave it a read and decided I couldn't lose anything by trying. Well, my veggies came in and I've never been prouder. I recommend this book highly to anyone who wants to garden but can't because of the soil or because of their health. There really is no digging, no tilling, and no weeding required!!!!!! You can also look it up on the net, try googling Lasagna Gardening 101. Hope this helps!!!! Good-luck!!
Sincerely and respectfully,
Nancy aka sunshine98 on GW
