Suggestions for best BASIC gardening book

I want to give someone with absolutely no experience a very basic book on gardening. She's a little sensitive so the "Dummies" books are probably not appropriate. I know most of us who come to GardenWeb are a little beyond the stage of "the roots go down" but I need something almost that elementary. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
