Good gardening books - survey

| I'm obsessed - I'll admit it. I want plant books for gifts (or plants!) I have a few already (not all are for TX gardening). What are some good gardening/plant books?
I apologize if this question is asked often - I'm new to this board! Refer me to a previous post if needed.
I have the Texas gardening book by the couple Wasocki or something like that, and the book by Neil (it's an old version but classic!) I also have a book on roses. I will read almost anything - what books do you love? |

| I'm a veggie gardner for the most part. A few favorites are: Carrots Love Tomatoes, Almanac & Pest Control Primer, Seed Starting Primer & Almanac, The Gardner's A-Z Guide to Growing Organic Food, and Rodale's Garden Answers At a Glance Solutions for Every Gardening Problem. This is my first time on this forum so the question is new to me. Hope this helps. |

| Most useful. Park's Success with Seeds, by Ann Reily. Published in 1978, available on HalfCom. Such a wide range of info in largely alpha order by plant name. Not only tells how to start from seed but general information about the plant and a picture of the seedling. Great reference. Dirr's Hardy Trees and Shrubs. Also a new on for the southern part of USA. Timber Press Seed Sowing and Saving, by Carole B. Turner, Storey Publisher. Great illustrations. Focused strictly on its title subject. Not as broad range of plants as the Park's book by far. Passalong Plants ( My copy is on loan to someone) Details not available. Written by a southerner but many of the plants discussed are grown in NJ at least. Sort of a chatty story telling saga of gardens and gardeners. |

| This is not a book about plants but very useful anyway. I refer to this book when needed. The Ultimate Guide to Backyard Bugs: Garden Insects of North America by Whitney Cranshaw. |
