Review: The Zero-Mile Diet

I received Carolyn Herriot's The Zero-Mile Diet: A Year-Round Guide to Growing Organic Food for my birthday this year. This is my 2nd year of vegetable gardening, and more and more I am becoming interested in growing my own food, in as natural and sustainable a way as possible. Carolyn is of the same mind, and that is why I have enjoyed and learned from this book so much. She does everything herself, from seed saving to easily making tonnes of her own soil each year from leaves, grass clippings, collected seaweed and other found organic matter. She teaches that gardening doesn't have to be expensive, and that it's actually better this way, and that's what I love about this book.

This book is also beautiful, with lots of photos from her garden (she runs a seed-saving business from it), and well layed out. The A-Z guide to growing vegetables is a handy reference. link:
