Ideas for Book

Recently my daughter and I wrote and published a book, "The Last Neanderthal Clan" and now we are working on a follow-on book. The books are fiction and set in prehistoric times, possibly 40,000 years ago in Europe. The story line is about the struggle for survival of the last Neanderthals. In the second book I want to include the discovery of how to grow one's own food. During those times, humans were hunters and gatherers. Neanderthal's diet consisted of about 85% meat, but perhaps 15% would have been wild produce; my guess is mostly fruit, green plants, tubers and mushrooms. It is also possible that they ate some grains.

Can anyone offer a suggestion regarding the type(s) of plants that would have logically been the first to be planted and grown by prehistoric humans for food?
