Will mature cutting fruit faster?

If I take a fruiting branch from a fig, apple, citrus tree and root it will I get fruit faster than if I take a new growth branch which has not born fruit yet. I would not take a branch which actually has fruit growing but one that has flowered and I remove the flower b/f fruit has formed. Thanks.

Older branches are more difficult to root. Grafting a fruiting branch to an existing tree of the same type would probably give better results.
