Anyone familiar with Paul Bigelow Sears?

| I am doing research on the policy impact of conservationists whose primary employment was in higher education. Sears is one example, and I am casting my net broadly to see what connections I can uncover. He taught in botany departments at the Ohio State University, the Universities of Nebraska and Oklahoma, and Oberlin College. He also chaired the Conservation Program at Yale in the 1950s. |

| I remember reading his book "Deserts on the March" in the 1940s. It was quite influential I believe along with Wm. Vogt's "Road to Survival"(1948) and Fairfield Osborn's "Our Plundered Planet" in the first wave of popular books by qualified scientists alerting the general public to worldwide conservation needs. Sears was a highly regarded soil conservationist. His books are listed by amazon.com |
