Dandelion names.....

I'm not sure where to ask this...

I've seen references to two different kinds of dandelion:

Taraxacum officinale
Taraxacum officinale F. Asteraceae

What does the "F. Asteraceae" mean?

And do you think the difference would be significant regarding the edible/medicinal constituents?

"F. Asteraceae" is not a different plant, it is just additional information! Asteraceae (alternative name Compositae) is the very large plant family to which the genus Taraxacum belongs. It's one of the largest families of flowering plants with over 1500 genera and 23,000 species.

Sorry but I can't give you a complete lesson in elementary botany, you will have to look in other places for the basics of botanical classification -- can I say here the unmentionable word -- BOOKS!
