Wild Shrub Identification

| This beautiful wild shrub is growing at the very edge of the natural woods adjacent to my back yard. It has a light fragrence that reminds me of freshly cut hay.
As you can see, it has remarkably dense small white flowers and cascades out from the trees. Can anyone help me identify it?

| Too distant to see well, but definitely something in the family Oleaceae - check out various species of Chionanthus, Fothergilla, Ligustrum, Syringa. Resin |

Pic closely resembles California Privet or Ligustrum ovalifolium, a Japanese native. Does it have opposite leaves? In my area European Privet or L. vulgare has become a serious problem. Once used for hedging, it has now spread into the forest understory and is taking over. The flowers are mal-odorous. Sam |
