Hi there,
Does anyone know anything about this nasty pest? I'm trying to find how this bug comes about, how it spreads, and what to do to keep my plants safe from it. I found it in larva form inside a plumeria I bought. It literally ate it from the inside out. I can't find any info on it though. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

there really isn't alot out there.... Is Lagocheirus undatus (plumeria borer) a syn. or different species? Extension sites in Hawaii list this instead. May be a recent taxonomic change? You might want to try searching for the the biology of Lagocheirus-might be the ssame or at least very similar for all taxa. here is interesting article and my be worth hunting the prof associated with the research if still around http://botanictreasures.com/psa/PSAGrant_May94.html Here is an ID page http://www.hear.org/images/organisms/hawaii/arthropods/gensp_l.htm |
