 o
coleus problems

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with certain cultivars of coleus that are weak?
This year we have a Stained Glass 'Copper Works' growing in a bed along with 'Dipt in Wine' which are both stated to be 18-24 inches in height.
We've had a strange season, with cool weather and excess water early in the season, which makes it hard for the coleus to start strong. However, the copper works is distinctly weaker than the dipt in wine at this point in the season. It looks stunted, though not sick.
Anyone have an idea if there is any place that records data on the strength of certain coleus hybrids?

RE: coleus problems

Interesting - it's not my experience, but I've read that Dipt in Wine requires full sun whereas Stained Glass (although the color may vary) tolerates shade well. From your weather conditions, I'd expect you'd have the opposite results form what you had. On the other hand - is stunted really a problem? You say it's not sick.

At any rate, Dave's Garden has some information on both cultivars. You might check the link below and then search for "Coleus Stained Glass" for more information.

Here is a link that might be useful: Dave's Garden - Coleus
