white baneberry and red osier, same plant?

| At a friends farm, I noticed a shrub with berries very much like white baneberry (Actaea pachypoda.) He called the shrub 'red osier.' Is this the same, or a totally different plant? |

| Thanx for the links froggy =) Since berries are very similar, (main reason I have been wanting baneberry) might go dig up some of the osier anyway! |

| The baneberry will stay as a smallish plant and will make more through seeding. The red osier is a shrub or small tree which will spread and grow larger, and may overtake plants near it. It likes damp and ditches, though it will survive without them. It likes sun, where the baneberry seems to prefer some shade, at least. |

| There is also a Red Baneberry which has bright red berries and the berries are listed as being toxic.It grows wild in my area. |
