Could you please ID this brom.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I just got this brom but I don't know if it's advisable to detach the "babies" and pot them up separately? With my other brom... I normally detach the baby and pot it separately, then leave the mother plant in her pot to produce more babies. But this one I don't know if I should do the same.

Thank you.

Ha Xuan

You can separate the pups when they're big enough but you might want to just leave them alone. Three plants don't take up much more room than one and when they bloom it is a nicer display. Also the pups will grow faster if they're left alone. They take about 2 years (in Michigan) to reaching blooming size.

Hi All:
I am new to Bromeliads and I have this one, also known as "Pink Quill". How long does the mother (bract) keep blooming before it dies?

Thanks!

Hi Haxuan - In my limited experience I find it better to leave this plant in a clump to promote flowering unless you need extra plants to sell/swap.
All the best, Nev.
