I purchased this a billbergia billbergiodes. I think it is more likely a porteana or rosea. It has an icredible flower and has now formed huge seed pods. Thought you might like a look.

Nice looking Bill, I don't think it is porteana or rosea they both have yellow green petals according to the UD article on FCBS - yours might be a hybrid maybe.

Do not worry Rick. I also think that this picture is more likely of a Bill brasiliensis. It is nice as usual.

Anyway, I kind of thought that there are not many people growing it. Otherwise, there would be photos on FCBS. I gave it a try.

I also agree that Rick's plant looks like B. brasiliensis.

Here is a scan of the B&W photo of B. macrolepis from Victoria Padilla's first book. A bit hard to see, but apparently not as showy as some of the other helicoid Bills. She says "The trailing inflorescence is heavily dusted with white powder. The flower petals are brownish green; the scapes are red with white scales."
