Looks a bit like 'Pickaniny'

Without looking at hdd's response, 'Pickaniny' was also my first impresssion.

I don't know, my Pickaniny is getting lots of sun and isn't that black.

I don't think its pickaniny. This plant gets really black. It was marked hybrid from I think his name was Bill Frasier.I have Pickaniny and I don't think its the same.

Bill Frase did the Pickaniny hybrid...Like all broms the color varies from clone to clone...I have 6 of this plant 2 are very dark black ..the others are dark but more on a maroon hue rather than black

HDD do you know what the cross is for pickaniny? Is black marble a variety of pickaniny?

They are both cv. of orlandiana X 'Bert' X fosteriana
Black marble is a larger cv with black and green markings
