Anybody growing the (yellow) variegated form? A florist we used to deliver to was getting them as a cut flower from another supplier-- he wouldn't say who, but he gave my husband one to give to me. Unfortunately the crown of the one he gave us was about 90% yellow with only a couple of green stripes, and it didn't make it. I've never seen the plant for sale, is it fairly common?

Hi Bromaloonie. Here is a closeup.
I cut the one I had last year open, but there were no seeds inside. |

HDD, the one I got showed no variegation in the fruit itself, just in the crown.

Whoa, those are nice HDD! What's the name of those? I think the green one is cute, but those variegated ones look great.

Very nice, HDD, but not what I was talking about. I've seen a number of larger variegated Ananas cvs, but never a variegated ananassoides (now A. comosus var. ananassoides). The crown he gave me came from a plant identical to the first specimen above, but with yellow variegation.
