Hi. I recently bought a peach colored Guzmania at the local nursery and it has 3 or 4 pups attached to the mother. Usually with my other broms they send out 1 or two pups so I just slowly wait for the mother to die, cut her back and don't have to worry about removing the pup for fear of killing it. I've done that to my silver vase brom once.
My question is this...if the pot is 6" and there's the mother and 4 pups...will the pups ever bloom, even after the mother dies, if there are 4 of them in one pot, all attached to each other? Or do I HAVE to remove them in order for blooms to eventually appear?
Also, does anyone know how long it takes for pups to bloom? Does it depend on the variety? I have a silver vase, and another one which I don't recall it's name but it's dark green striped leaves with an orange flower that has tiny yellow flowers off the big orange one. I removed the mother and it's doing well, but boy are they slow growing! Any idea when to expect it to bloom?
