Yes, it's a Billbergia, Stan. My guess is probably Catherine Wilson. That's an old hybrid, been around a long time and fairly common in collections. In more sun the leaves would be more tightly curled, but not upright. In more shade (or more heavily fed) they tend to flop a bit more. It has nothing to do with the health of the plant, it's just genetics. Several Bill species have recurved leaves, including B. iridifolia, thought to be the pollen parent of CW.

It looks like Stan's plant has purple flowers though. CW's are green.

Hmmm...... kinda hard to see, but you could be right, Gonz. Looks like there may be just a hint of silver banding on it too (first pic), which is not typical of CW. Well, if it's not CW I don't know what it is, but it's still not sick, just needs more light.

Your on to something Lisa-and thanks because nothing more aggravating than to have a brom expert(on other boards) always post my plant is not healthy or well grown when I asked for more info.
Cathy Wilson has white dots and red flowers-mine is more burgundy leafed,VERY burgundy colored,almost red, when it was greenhouse kept..a darker shade of burgundy outdoors here in the cool bay area,with more blue flowers. But from what you told me and considering the source-an old botanical garden- It's nice to know its unique in leaf growth. And NOT sick!

Stan, CW's flowers are light green, nowhere's near being red.

Gonzer-take a peek at the link Lisa put up. The flower is red unless your being technical like meaning bracts,etc.
Mine,looks pretty much like B.nutans.

I found a photo of mine in bloom from two years ago. Without a doubt it's Catherine Wilson .The bloom is identical.
I seem to have more than my share of "old " standard plants of all types.
