Well bomg, I am not familiar with any viral or bacterial afflictions that Tillandsias host. It does appear to be crown rot due to excess humidity. The trichomes in your close-up appear to be flattened against the leaves in spots. It just may have taken this long for the humidity to have an adverse effect on your plant. Luckily for you duratii is a plant that can lose it's entire crown to disease and simply grow another from almost the exact same spot. Instead of antibacterial soap I would suggest using Physan 20 fungicide or any other fungicide/viracide you can find. Physan is really safe and super effective.

If it is indeed rot I guess I just have to wait for it to grow another crown. I feel a little bit relieved now.
