Some of my hybrid seedlings.

Hey guys,

Here are two seedlings of a cross I did two Decembers ago. They are almost a year old (wow, didnt realize how long its been!) Once Spring gets here, theyre gettin thrown outside into the warm and Sunny.

The seed parent is our Lisa's Black Pearl and something carried off the pollen parent's tag. They are each the only surviving seedlings of two separate grexes. This is my first foray into hybridizing. The first seedling has obvious potential. Unsure of the second, theres a little purple but the first one got a good head start colorwise.

Looking good so far, Chris. At least you won't have a major culling dilemma. I hope they both develop into beauties for you.

It's good to see the hybridizing bug has bitten another victim and hopefully caused the initiation of another incurable hybridizer. You're fortunate that you don't have to worry about culling. YET!

Chris,

I wonder if you might have better luck with a differant potting mix, I have grown my Bill seedlings in Coirpeat (coconut peat) and haven't lost any over the last two years.

Hi Chris

Also try using smaller pots and upgrade as they grow, from my experience seedlings seem to grow better in smaller seedling trays than in their own large pot.

Hey thanks for the compliments guys. I actually have many many more crosses but I sent the majority of those seeds for a friend to grow since space is a premium for me. The two grexes had only around 6-8 seeds each and I had sown them in 4" pots. I was just playing around so I didnt use a seedling starter mix. The two grexes have culled themselves out since all but a seedling of each died!
