| Years ago, I came across with the image of this variegated spiney in FCBS site.
It's definely on the top of my most want "Holy Grail", but I really didn't know where to takeoff. I took about 3 years to find this special plant with nothing. But finally, with a big help from our good friend here, HDD, I can have this Dyckia 'Dakota' in my spiney collection now. THANKS HDD (@^_^@)
It seem I got two in one, as they have different variegation.
Solid yellow, striated with emarginated.
While this one has rather green with mediopicta.

| Congratulations, Chanin! It looks very unstable. Probably the yellower one wouldn't survive if it was removed from the greener one, so you got two for one! |

| In fact, I have tried to do a variegated Dyckia by myself. I did a cross between Dyckia platyphylla as a seed parent x with Dyckia 'Yellow Glow' as polen parent, at least two of batch appear to be much paler that I hope the variegation could develop.

| I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who grows their seeds crowded! Those guys should come apart pretty easily, though. Chanin, I'm surprised that you would get any results from using Yellow Glow as a pollen parent, but sometimes things like that happen for reasons I don't yet understand. I will be interested to see how those pale ones turn out. |

| LOL... :-)) I knew TOO CROWDED Lisa, I still have 25,000 seedlings to work with !!!
This is also a selected one from a batch of ordinary Dyckia marnier-lapostollei. I found some seedling shows variegation, note on a leaf near the middle, But the variegation doesn't show through upper surface yet. |

| Up to date, my beloved 'Dakota' is gonna bloom ! so I can start my new experiment.

| If I remember correctly what Chanin told me about these seedlings...I think the monsoon rain got the seedlings...maybe some survived |

| Thanks HDD, yes sadly, all gone with the rain :-( Sorry that I have not been here for awhile, too busy with my new house Here the 'Dakota' one side of clump has divided into two heads.
