Some Portea 'Jungles' in a Berkeley Hills garden

This is a nice cultivar of Portea that I got from Bullis Bromeliads out of Florida via an indoor plant supplier here in San Francisco. I wasn't expecting this one to do any better than P. petropoliteana v. extensa as an outdoors year round plant, but it has surprised me as being much more vigorous and sturdy flowering through a winter here. The foliage also colors up very nicely in sun. Anyone else growing this?

Here is a link that might be useful: Portea 'Jungles'
