A few IDs

I recently visited the local botanical gardens and took some photos of a couple of nice looking bromeliads. Hardly any of the plants are named, so I thought I'd post them here and see if anyone can hazard a guess?

The first one, I thought might be Aechmea phanerophlebia? Or something similar, (sorry no flower) It stands about 60cm high

This one, my friend thought, might be Aechmea serrata, but the pics on FCBS don't show much other than the flower. The flower head is dried (just) but I did manage to pick out a couple of purple berries. Is there an Aechmea with a similar flower head?

These ones, we were unsure of. There were quite a few in the glass house, under mostly shade, so I wonder at their being so light green?

Our first thoughts were Aechmea pectinata (no sign of pink, or flowers though) or a nidularium? Or maybe a wittrockia.

I know its a bit of a long shot without flower pictures, but I'll go back a bit more regularly to see whats happening.

I might make an attempt to find out who tends/stocks the display and see what they know.

First one is what you thought it was, phanerophlebia. I won't touch the second one, but the third one looks like W. cyathiformis.

Hi BA, yes last one is certainly either W. cyathiformis or a Leopardinum (cv of gigantea)..I'm picking the former as the spines don't look large enough for a Leopard.

Hi Guys

BA, the second plant is Aechmea smithiorum (no serrata in Aust.), I'm going with Leopardinum for the last one, need to see it flower to be sure.

Thanks PB. I would love one of those wittrockias! They had a few in the display. Are they cold tender?BA

Hi Guys

BA, I have a couple in the open garden here & a couple in the garden down south (600klm) in Newcastle, so they should do fine at your place. I think PT may have some spare Leopardinum ??, I have some cyathiform if you want one & your albo fasciata.

Thanks PB. Would love a Leopardum, at a good price. Will email you about the others. Guess a trip up is in order. When's the next group?
I haven't contacted the gardens/contacts yet, so many things to do and so little time!
