mushibu10 - I don't grow many Vrieseas nor do I know much about their identity.

However, If bromeliad sales in your country are anything like they are here in Australia I would guess that your plants are just two of the many thousands of commercial Vriesea hybrids grown and sold annually in nurseries and department stores. (Is "morrisons" one such store?)

Over here they don't usually have a name on a tag, just a generic name tag stating they are a "Bromeliad" with basic cultural instructions on the reverse side.

The idea is they are sold to take the place of buying cut flowers and when they lose their colour most people throw them away and buy another. Flowering Guzmania plants are also commonly sold for this purpose and are very popular.

The individual flowers don't last very long but the coloured bracts stay coloured for many months and because of this they are still a much better investment than buying cut flowers.

If you have a lot of time and patience, you could wade through all of the pictures in the BCR Photo Index and you may find a name, but I doubt it. This index has thousands of pictures and can be found at:

hello, thank you for such a good reply, morrisons is a food super store, but the past few years they've started to sell plants, and they sell dragon fruits (pitaya) but not lychee!

I will have a run through the website and see if I find it, would you say to treat it like all vriasea?
